I originally trained as a Counsellor in the mid-1990’s and later as a Psychotherapist and worked for many years as a therapist in community organisations in the fields of mental health and young people.  I became curious about the impact of emotional stress and trauma on our bodies and the struggle to self-care especially when we are in times of crisis and difficulty.  I was drawn to train as a Craniosacral therapist in part because of its history in working with babies and how our earliest formative experiences in utero and at birth can shape and impact us physically and emotionally throughout life.  I have undertaken significant training in the field of pre and peri natal psychology as it is an area I am specifically interested in.

My interest in the mind-body connection has also taken me into the field of movement and the impact of mindful embodied movement in supporting both our physical and mental health. Having had a longstanding yoga and movement practice, I recently discovered Pilates and recently qualified as a Comprehensive Polestar Pilates teacher.  I have also completed a year-long course in Anatomy and Myofascia for movement teachers. As a Pilates and movement teacher I have a particular interest in women’s pelvic health and in restorative movement to support a healthy nervous system and the impact of trauma.

As a Craniosacral therapist I have worked in private practice seeing clients with a range of health concerns and spent some time working in a Pain clinic with clients with Fibromyalgia and other complex pain conditions.  My background leads me to have a particular interest in the mind-body connection, how we hold stress and trauma in the body and in the impact of our earliest prenatal and birth experiences.

I hold a deep curiosity and respect for our bodies inherent wisdom and capacity to change and heal.

I am a registered practitioner with the Craniosacral Therapy Association (CSTA) https://www.craniosacral.co.uk and a qualified Pilates teacher with Polestar https://polestarpilates.co.uk

I am excited to offer Craniosacral Therapy as part of The Treatment Space in the Hope Valley as well as 1:1 pilates sessions.
